Jennifer Bowen is Dene. She is an emerging curator and arts administrator from Whitehorse, Yukon. She is currently enrolled at the University of Lethbridge in the Fine Arts Department taking First Nations Art History and Museum studies. Jennifer has two exhibitions open during the ACC conference at Arts Underground; a group show Hands of Time and solo show My Healing Journey with artwork by Mary Caesar. In 2014 she was selected to participate in the Ostego Institute for Native American Art History at the Fenmore Museum in Copperstown, New York. She also participated in the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective’s Micro-mentorship program in 2013. In 2010, she co-curated a pan-territorial exhibit for the Vancouver Olympic with the Yukon Art Centre’s Public Art Gallery titled Sewing our Traditions. Jennifer has worked in the North as an arts administrator for the Adaka Cultural Festival and Great Northern Arts Festival since 2005. Prior to her artistic endeavours and family life, Jennifer was a community television producer for the Native Communications Society in the NWT. She documented Dene land-users for 10 years in her traditional territory.
